fine motor and gross motor skills

At About You OT, we support children to build the strength, coordination, and motor skills they need for everyday activities—from sitting upright and engaging in play activities to drawing, writing, using cutlery or playing outside with their friends.

What Are Motor Skills?

  • Fine motor skills involve small movements (e.g. manipulating toys, writing & drawing, using buttons and zips, using scissors).

  • Gross motor skills use larger muscles for actions like crawling, jumping, climbing, and balancing.

Both are essential for play, learning, and independence.

How We Help

Through play-based, goal-focused sessions, we help children improve:

  • Core strength and posture

  • Balance and coordination

  • Hand strength and dexterity

  • Body awareness and motor planning

We also provide practical strategies for home and school to support skill development in everyday routines.

We're here to help your child feel strong, capable, and confident.
