our philosophy

LISTEN - COLLABORATE - EMPOWER

It’s about you! At About You OT, we listen to what matters to you and work together to develop goals that are individualised and meaningful. Using a holistic, evidence-based, and child-led approach, we empower children and their networks to work toward these goals in ways that honour their strengths, preferences, and unique ways of being.

How we work

  • We are a completely mobile service, which means, we come to you! We work at homes, schools, daycares or other community locations. We don’t offer clinic sessions.

  • We accept services from NDIS funded participants (self and plan managed only), Medicare Chronic Disease Management plans, or inidviduals can use their private health insurance if they have coverage for OT services.

  • With over 14 years of experience in paediatric occupational therapy across the not-for-profit, public health, and private sectors, we bring a broad and well-rounded understanding of supporting individuals with a diverse range of needs.

  • Our therapy sessions create a safe, connected and nurturing environment and are dedicated to helping children learn, develop confidence and grow.

We want all of our clients to thrive!

what is occupational therapy?

Occupational Therapy helps children and young people build the skills they need to take part in the everyday activities that are most important to them—whether that’s playing, learning, moving, making friends, managing emotions, or gaining independence at home and school.

In this context, “occupation” means the daily tasks and activities kids need and want to do, such as dressing, eating, playing, and learning.

“Therapy” involves working together to build the skills, strategies, and confidence to do these things more successfully—and with less stress.

Hello! I'm Alix, an Occupational Therapist with over 14 years of experience working with children and families in both Australia and the United Kingdom.

I believe that meaningful progress starts with genuine connection. Building trusting, collaborative relationships with children and their families is at the heart of my approach. I work closely with each child's support team—including parents, educators, and other professionals—to develop individualised, practical strategies that support the child’s unique strengths and needs.

Mentorship is also a significant part of my practice. I am dedicated to supporting and guiding other occupational therapists, whether they are new graduates or experienced clinicians.

Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my young family. We love embarking on adventures—whether it's camping, traveling, or simply relaxing down south. These moments recharge me and remind me of the importance of balance in life.

If you're seeking a compassionate and experienced occupational therapist who values collaboration and holistic care, I'd be delighted to connect and explore how we can work together to support your child's journey.

we would love to hear from you
